When these sensors go out the radiator fan will kick on high and run full blast cycling on and off every few minutes. If the harness is corroded, it likely has affected the sensor pins as well. It is recommended to replace both if the pins are corroded. Sometimes animals also get into that area and nibble the wires. Check with a flashlight to see if you can visually see wires going up to the sensor.
